It is important that our government offices and public buildings first adopt waste segregation within the building premises so that it encourages the people to follow. This campaign by APD to bring the change we need in the Government and Public buildings will inspire everyone who visits there and the government will be like a role model for its people and for successful execution of the segregation at source plan. This will be a major step towards our commitment to Swachh Mangaluru, Swachh Bharath dream in terms of sanitation, cleanliness and environmental conservation.

OVERVIEW

The purpose of the campaign is create awareness and bring behaviour change through about waste segregation by educating the people how and why to segregate waste. The target government offices and public buildings are identified and listed for the campaign. The list includes Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC), Professional Tax office, Labour office, Income Tax office, Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board, Ten Post Offices, Regional Transport Office (RTO), Mangalore SEZ limited, Ten Police Stations, Mangalore Urban Development Affairs (MUDA) and Kanara Chambers of Commerce among others. The campaign has a 15 minute workshop to explain the procedure how waste should be segregated with a presentation and video on waste segregation. Informative pamphlets, stickers and stickers were distributed and inserted at appropriate places.
