Beach Clean Up
Clean beaches are a priority for our nation. Not only do beaches produce half of the oxygen that is in the air we breathe, but it is an imperative part of the water cycle: supplying us with the water we drink. A beach clean-up allows individuals and communities to come together regardless of different interests, and address the issue of marine litter on our beaches and its impact. Cleaning beaches and coastal areas is a first trigger for people to start understanding the huge pressure we are putting on our marine environment. However, to change people’s habits and ensure they connect to the environment, a long term approach is vital. This is what we strive to do with beach clean-up drives.

OVERVIEW
Manual cleaning is indeed possible to achieve an acceptable result in a quick and efficient way. The organic material in the drift-line has numerous natural functions in the coastal ecosystem, in terms of coastal defence, as feeding ground, as a biotope for pioneer plants, etc. which is not lost by manual cleaning.
