Eco-Friendly Makar Sankranti

Sankranti is celebrated all over India but is known by different names. In Gujarat Makar Sankranti is known as Uttarayan whereas in Tamil Nadu it is known as Pongal and in Karnataka it is known as Makar Sankranti. This festival is considered as a major harvest festival which is celebrated with lot of enthusiasm. This festival is a traditional and oldest event that happens on an equinox that is the length of day and night remains equally long. After Makar Sankranti, the days grow longer and the nights shorter till the next equinox. Makar Sankranti is all about forgetting bitter and sad moments which has occured in the past and welcoming the new phase of life which is full of purity, knowledge and wisdom. The celebration is to create awareness among the people that how mother earth has been disturbed and harmed due to the pollution and by this at least people will stop polluting the environment by various means. While the Flora and Fauna encores \"Jiyo Aur Jeene Do\" let us encore \"Baduki Matthu Badukalu Bidi\" let us preserve Mother Earth and together live in Harmony.

Mother Earth provides for everyone\'s needs. But sadly man has taken things too lightly and hindered the growth and the Earth\'s very existence. APD team along with Antony Waste Handling Cell (AWHCPL) and Shree Gujarathi High School Alake decided to celebrate this day in a Eco friendly way and to show our gratitude to mother earth who has blessed us with so much in abundance by going to houses near our locality and giving them a message about protecting our environment which has always given us everything we need without expecting. We are representing three states by a folk dance namely Tamilnadu, Gujarat and Karnataka. Students will be visiting the house with a slogan and telling the residents :- - Jiyo Aur Jeene Do -Mother earth is Requesting people to stop polluting. - Baduki Badukalu Bidi -Birds and Animal Kingdom are requesting people. - Live and Let Live- Human beings are requesting each other Here we will not be using any of the pollutants which will harm our environment. Like burning bonfires. Not using glass coated thread to fly kites.
